THE BEAVER DAMS

Beavers can be found thoughout Wah-Tut-Ca. The Beaver Dams are an area just on the border of the reservation that was once a popular area for outpost camping.

Beavers are semi-aquatic rodents native to North America and Europe. They are the only living members of the family Castoridae, which contains a single genus, Castor. Genetic research has shown the European and North American beaver populations to be distinct species and that hybridization is unlikely.

The Beaver was the lodge totem for Amiskwi Lodge of North Bay Council, now a part of Nanepashemet Lodge and Yankee Clipper Council.
