THE COBBLER SHOP

The only building still standing when the Greater Lowell Council, BSA bought the land that became Wah-Tut-Ca was this small building. It was a cobbler shop, where the Swain Family would assemble shoes on a piece work basis from the Northwood shoe mill. In the early days of Wah-Tut-Ca it was used and known as “The Gate House”. It was torn down in 1968 and replaced with a So-Kee-Tay Cabin, relocated from what is now known as Wannalancit Camp Site. In 1987 it was renamed the “Cobbler Shop” in honor of Wah-Tut-Ca’s past. Today it is used to house "weekend warriors" who provide maintenance to the facilities
